Right now you should expect your child to be getting acclimated to their new teammates, teachers, and studio class rules. While we are teaching dance steps in our dance classes, many of the lessons your dancer is learning (maybe without even knowing it) are valuable lessons in life; dedication, a strong work ethic, arriving prepared in an uniform, being timely, being a supportive teammate, and so much more.
For alumni students we are reviewing things learned the past year and going over them for newer students. Your child should also be learning lots of new skills in class once some of the steps from last year are refreshed and become routine. Dance requires the body to have muscle memory. Dancers will do the same steps even after they have mastered them. For example, ballerinas regardless of years dancing, always begin with plies. It is easy for are bodies to forget if these basic skills are not practice weekly. While we believe that dance should be FUN, we also believe that dance is like any other sport and requires hard work. Most of the steps and skills your dancer will be learning in the next few months will be incorporated into the choreography for the recital.
We are excited to be holding our annual recital at The Ames Center once again this year!

Dress Rehearsal for ALL solos,duets,trios,and Competition group routines. SOLO/ DUET /TRIO NOTE: Only Sr. Soloists will perform in both recitals. However, we would like to showcase all soloists, duets and trios on our recital DVD. Therefore, we would like solos, duets and trios to bring their costumes and be prepared to dance in full hair and make up during this dress rehearsal.

MEA Break 10/18-10/21
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is breast cancer awareness month. To support breast cancer awareness, dancers can wear anything pink to dance class. Some ideas are t-shirts, leggings, leg warmers, hair bows, and more.
We will also have various pink items for purchase at the front desk hair bows, suckers, etc. All proceeds will go to Chloe and Hannah Herrig’s Mom Melissa who was diagnosed with breast cancer just 6 months ago.
At JAMM we feel that it is important for every child to have access to dance. Therefore, we offer optional fundraising to assist in the cost of costumes, shoes and apparel. Information went home with your dancer the week of September 19th. Orders are due to the studio on Wednesday, October 17th.
Pick up is on Saturday November 17th , 1:00-2:30pm at Erickson Park Located behind Rosemount City Hall at 14115 Brazil Ave, Rosemount.
Many of our dancer’s do not have any out of pocket expense for costumes because of these opportunities. Again, the fundraiser is optional.

Costume Fees Due November 15
Costume fees will be deducted automatically from the credit card you provided JAMM at the start of the season. Costumes will not be ordered if payment has not been received. Once costumes are ordered they are non-refundable and non-returnable. You will receive an invoice for the amount due. The invoice will reflect any fundraiser credits your dancer earned if they participated.
All Dynamic Division (recreational students) costumes are $100 each
All Competition costumes are $175 each (rhinestones are not included)
We will be starting to measure your dancer for their dance costumes during their dance class starting the week of October 8th. One of our front desk staff members will be coming into the classroom and measuring each dancers Bust, Waist, Hips and girth.
Halloween at jamm
Wear your Halloween costume, black and orange attire, your favorite Halloween tights, socks, or accessories (no masks or props please) to class Wednesday, October 24th -Tuesday the 30th. Feel free to bring a treat to share with your class. For class numbers, please see the front desk.

Rosemount Haunted Woods
Come see the JAMM staff at the Rosemount Haunted Woods Trail on Saturday, October 27th. The Trail is located in Central Park directly behind JAMM. It is free for all trick or treaters! The event begins at 6:00pm (a line does begin to form at 4:30). We can’t wait to see you there!
For $76 per month you receive a ninja t-shirt and headband that will serve as your cool ninja uniform and 8 weeks of ninja classes! Our ninja program is taught by our certified acrobatic arts instructor Corey Bozeman. Classes start this week! Register NOW!
When should i keep my dancer home?
MN Department of Health regulations for schools and pre-schools…
- Fever of 100 or more in the last 24 hours (fever free for 24 hours without the assistance of medication)
- Fatigue and cough within the last 24 hours
- Diarrhea and/or vomit within the last 24 hours
- Sore throat within the last 24 hours
If you answered yes to any of the above you must keep your dancer home.
With the weather changing we want to remind everyone that if the weather outside looks frightful we will cancel classes for the safety of our dancers and faculty. Please check the studio Facebook page or the studio voicemail if the weather is questionable.
Please label ALL of your dancer’s shoes! Put names on the inside of shoes only, please do not write on the outside of shoes. If the inside of the shoe is black, label a piece of medical tape and place inside the shoe.
Lost and Found
The lost and found is located in a gray bin in the long hallway. Please check this on a regular basis for your dancer’s belongings.
Ballet Elastic Instructions
Canvas Shoes Elastic Sewing Instructions
- Have your dancer put the shoes on
- Place elastic in an “X” pattern across the foot
- Pull elastic snug and mark it with a pencil
- Sew to the inside of the shoe (be careful not to stitch through the tie casing at the top edge of the shoe or you will not be able to adjust the ties)
- Cut off the extra elastic
- Put the slippers on and adjust the drawstrings so that they fit snug without cutting into the back of the heel
- Tie the ends of the drawstrings into a square knot securing it tightly
- After you are certain the drawstring will not come untied, cut the drawstring ends so that only 1-2″ are left
- Tape the drawstrings with medical tape to the top inside of the shoe
